MINE MINE MINE!!!!

We can all probably quote endless verses from the Holy Scriptures repetitively reminding us that in the same way that our Lord is our ultimate provision...He also is the ultimate owner of all of "our" things.

Intellectually we know, and most often will say..."my money is His money.....my home is His home.....my children are His chilren...." etc etc However, what does that REALLY look like in an illustrated form???

Allow me to share what my sweet pets taught me this week. :)

I have been frustrated that we do not have a good comfortable "sitting in" chair in the living room. Everywhere in my home that I would be comfortable to read invites me to lay down. In assuming that position, most often it seems that I end up sleeping long before I have read what I had intended. Monday I set about finding a suitable and affordable chair (another story entirely) and PRAISE THE LORD aquired one that is practically perfect in every way!

What comes next is the lesson.....

Within 5 minutes of the chair's arrival and placement in my living room...Mercy's pet cat Caroline decided that it would be her new favorite place to lounge, she stretched out comfortably in her new "cozy" spot preparing to nap. I was fine with that as I paid bills from the desk.....it made me happy to see her so sweetly resting.

Mercy was NOT fine with it. She deliberately stood at attention next to the chair whining and persistently placed her paw up on the chair inches from Carolines head to annoy her hoping to cause her to move.

Eventually Mercedes succeded in relocating her cat. As soon as the chair was vacated...Mercy Jane hopped into it. She poured her shepherd/corgy long body into the small cramped area that was most assuredly not as spacious or soft as the couch she normally takes her afternoon nap on. It would appear that the pay off of winning in the power struggle was more important to her than comfort.

The amusing and most illuminating part of this whole scenario is that it wasn't long after Mercy settled in that I finished paying my bills and was ready to try out my new chair with Billy Graham's book on Angels and an iced cold can of 7 - up.

I can PROMISE you that as for me and my chair (LOL) my purposes exceeded both of the agendas of these sweet girls I love dearly. They both got scooted out. It wasn't personal...nor did I desire to hurt their feelings or cause them pain....simply it is my chair first.........and my purpose was greater from a Master's advantage.

I invite you to reflect with me.................It's a great illustration. My paycheck, my job, my husband, my church, my car....blah blah blah....................the trick I believe to remember that it is all HIS first and foremost. EVEN MY CHAIR!!!! LOL

Blessings :)
