Share your thoughts...

After God had completed His creation on the 6th day The Bible tells us in Genesis 1:31 that after "He saw all that He had made, and it was very good."

It doesn't tell us that it was "awesome" or "breathtaking" or "magnificient." It simply tells us that it was good.

That implies to me that "Good" may have had a different meaning to God than it has come to mean to me. I have aquired man's way of thinking of:

GOOD...bottom of the totem pole....
BETTER...better than GOOD....
BEST....FANTASTIC, GREAT AWESOME!

It has causes me to wonder...I know for certain that God's vocabulary wasn't limited, hence could the added drama be of men? Could GOOD be the top of the heap?

What has spurned this reflection is the verse in Isaiah 5:20-21

WOE TO THOSE WHO CALL EVIL GOOD
AND GOOD EVIL,
WHO PUT DARKNESS FOR LIGHT
AND LIGHT FOR DARKNESS,
WHO PUT BITTER FOR SWEET
AND SWEET FOR BITTER
WOE TO THOSE WHO ARE WISE IN THEIR OWN EYES
AND CLEVER IN THEIR OWN SIGHT!

So the first verse here would imply that a person, place or thing can be good or can be evil..........would you then say that which is not good is in fact evil?

So do we fool ourselves in our own cleverness to believe that things we do, ways we hurt, gossip we spread...although is not good...........is not really bad? Or is not evil?

Isaiah was a prophet. A man of God sent to warn the citizen's of heaven of guarding themselves from attacks and strongholds of our opposition. Earlier in this book in 1:16-20 Isaiah instructs:

WASH AND MAKE YOURSELVES CLEAN
TAKE YOUR EVIL DEEDS OUT OF MY SIGHT
STOP DOING WRONG
LEARN TO DO RIGHT

I found this to be so encouraging. That learning to do right is a process. It's sanctification and it happens automatically as we grow in our Lord. As we know Him better, we can be certain that we will know better what is evil - good, right- wrong.

What do you think?
